Tips for landing your dream job after your online course

You should have a few things in place to take the next step in realizing a far-fetched ambition. If you want to find your dream job, you must evaluate yourself. Find out what kind of work would be most fulfilling for you. Make a list of all the requirements for the ideal job you seek. These could be particular to the function, environment, culture, hours worked, and remuneration of a job. Since this is what you want, be as specific as you can. Here are some hints and points to help you get ready for the career-building phase.

Tips and tricks to land your dream job

Think ahead

The first step towards achieving goals is to set them. To realize your career ambitions, make a plan of action and explicitly outline your objectives. Consider your goals for the upcoming five to 10 years as a starting point. Decide which companies you admire and what duties will help you flourish there next. Choose which tasks can be completed quickly and which ones demand more labor, then set to work.

Perfect your skills

Sincere evaluation of your skills concerning those needed for the job you’re seeking should be part of your preparation strategy. What abilities will be most helpful to you if your long-term professional objective is to advance into a management or leadership role within your organization? Where are your present areas of strength and weakness? Here are a few skills that you should refine yourself with: your oral and written communication skills, leadership skills, organizational skills, learning and adaptability skills, Interpersonal skills, and computer skills.

Create an effective resume

Using a dated, generic CV is a mistake that job aspirants frequently make. Check the requirements for the employment you’re considering, then make sure your CV emphasizes the required credentials. Ensure that your CV is straightforward to read and recognize. Over 95% of firms search resumes for relevant keywords and attributes using an applicant tracking system. If your resume contains keywords from the job description, it may be possible to pass the initial screening and get in front of the recruiting manager.

Develop a good network

Professional advancement depends on networking. Through this relationship-building process, you can meet people who challenge and broaden your perspectives, find trusted mentors, and open doors to future work opportunities. It’s yet another benefit of online learning. Creating and utilizing your network might be the most crucial step to landing the job of your dreams. The more people you can contact to get your resume in front of the appropriate decision-maker, the better. The fact that up to 70% of all jobs are not listed on job search websites stresses the value of networking even more.

You will probably learn about positions through your connections before they’re posted, providing you with a competitive advantage. It is also crucial to do your research on the people you’ll be meeting. Gather information on the interviewees as much as you can and create a list of questions to ask. Employers do not always ask questions during interviews. Don’t forget to rehearse your responses to typical interview questions as well. You will perform better if you practice more.

Seek assistance

Contact your connections and ask for introductions once you have cut down your list of ideal employers and have a sizable personal network. Most people are willing to sacrifice a few minutes for a friend. Even if there are no immediate job chances, you might get a few free advice and introductions to people you know.

Dress formally

In this era of casual clothing, it might be challenging to determine what to wear to an interview. Asking the interview scheduler about the company’s dress code is a good idea. If you want to project a sense of commitment to the opportunity, it makes sense to dress for success.

Primary references you have

How well you perform in interviews is virtually equally dependent on the quality of your recommendations. Prospective employers need third-party assurance that you have the skills necessary to succeed in the role they are looking to fill. Be prepared with at least a few numbers of references who can speak favorably of your skills and work ethic, whether they are former employers, coworkers, professors, or mentors. Get permission before revealing your contact information, and specify the key points you want your references to highlight on your behalf.

Follow up

You must communicate with them after your interview to express your gratitude for their time and excitement about the opportunity. A handwritten note makes a great impression, but if the potential employer needs to fill the position quickly, you must move quickly and send an email within 24 hours of your meeting. It’s not just a nice gesture; it’s an excellent chance to emphasize any points they might have missed during your interview and to remind them of the important traits you’ll bring to the position. Please don’t forget to thank your references. Your references are the ones who secure the deal for you. Don’t forget to express your gratitude for their cooperation. They will be more likely to help you the next time you need a reference if you show them your gratitude.

Negotiate the job offer

When you receive a job offer from the organization of your dreams, it can be tempting to take it right away out of excitement. You must remember to bargain over the terms of your job offer if you want to maximize your earning potential. When responding to the proposal, take your time to write talking points outlining why you should get a better payoff and what it might include. Find out what someone with your experience and education would typically make by doing some research. There is a reason why the company chose you over another applicant, so keep in mind your value and bargain with confidence.

Interview follow-up and post-interview etiquette

You just had a job interview, and you think you did a great job. Nevertheless, you need to be certain that you achieved the position or that you are going to have another interview. Post-interview etiquette is something you should adhere to, as how you act at this point in the hiring process could make or break your prospects of receiving a job offer. Your prospects of receiving the job may suffer if you fail to comply. Even if you succeed in getting the job, you could unintentionally offend your potential employer or start sloppily if you do not follow proper etiquette after your interview.

Ways to follow up after an interview and maintain post-interview etiquette

The following ways can be considered to follow up after an interview and maintain post-interview etiquette:

Send a Thank You note (Message of Gratitude)

Everyone – including the individual who simply took time out of their schedule to interview you – will appreciate it if you thank them for their time. Finding how to contact every individual who interviewed you is impressive etiquette, and you should do so the day after the interview by sending them a handwritten note or email. Be sure to use their name, express gratitude for their time, and bring up something they mentioned during the interview. Although it is acceptable to reiterate your interest in the job, you should still feel thankful to the employer even if you decide not to accept the offer. Thank you notes convey that you are reputable, professional, and considerate as part of your brand personality during your job hunt, setting you apart from other candidates.

Avoid including the following in your thank-you note:

  • Don’t explain why you should be hired. Just simply reiterate your qualifications and your passion for the job opportunity.
  • If there were any issues with the interview, don’t make any excuses. It doesn’t seem good to add, “Sorry I fumbled over my statements very much; I was simply weary.”
  • Don’t be haughty or presume you already have the job. Allow your resume and interview performance to do the talking.
  • Avoid writing an essay; keep the note succinct and to the point.
  • After writing your thank-you note, be careful to proofread it.

Be mindful of how you follow up after your interview

Ideally, during your interview, you were given some insight into the recruiting timeline. Inquiring about the decision-making procedure and reiterating your interest is acceptable if you haven’t heard anything back. Be courteous and respectful, but don’t follow up too frequently or demand answers (this won’t assist your cause).

Consider a follow-up strategy

Employers frequently take a long time before choosing to recruit someone. It indicates that the time it takes for you to learn whether you got the job will probably be longer than you would prefer. While it is important to follow up after an interview, do so only once and after a specific amount of time has passed. Keep in mind that recruiting managers are frequently busy individuals who are also attempting to fill a position. Send a quick email to check in and reiterate your interest if you haven’t heard anything after more than a week, but avoid calling. Calling is typically more intrusive.

What to include in your follow-up email

  • Promote your candidature

Affirm your curiosity about the position and the organization in your follow-up letter.

  • Emphasize your compatibility with the role

Highlight to the interviewer why you are compatible with the organization. Emphasize your pertinent skills that are suited to the demands of the position. Illustrate to the employer that you are a great fit.

  • Mention what you neglected during the interview

Mention anything that you’d have liked to have stated during the interview but didn’t. If there is anything crucial that you wanted to talk about but didn’t have the chance to, now is your opportunity.

  • Correct interview errors

Your follow-up message is an excellent spot to reword and explain what you meant to say if you stumbled over your words during the interview or gave a crappy response to a question.

  • Add your contact information

Include your phone number and email address in every correspondence with the interviewer to make it simple for them to contact you again.

What to do if you don’t receive any response from the interviewer?

Employers usually don’t contact candidates if they do not clear the interview. Employers rarely follow up with job candidates who aren’t given the position. There is no harm in sending another follow-up email if it has been more than a few weeks and you haven’t heard anything from the employers. But given that, you can probably assume that you didn’t get the role and that you should start getting ready for your next interview with a different employer.

Final words

Professionalism is what matters the most in the end, so be careful about how you follow up after an interview and maintain the basic post-interview etiquette. Never discuss your interview on social networks, as you may run the risk of looking conceited about your positive disclosure. So keep in mind the post-interview etiquettes discussed in the article to leave a positive impact on the employers and stay on their good side.
To be successful in your job interview, you need to prepare well. If you haven’t cleared an interview, you need to analyze what’s gone wrong and learn from your mistakes and get better. These days, most colleges and universities that are offering online degrees such as Manipal university jaipur (MUJ) are also offering placement assistance to the students to help them achieve job success.

  • EdTech Sector

The EdTech sector applauded the budget announcements on digital projects with an emphasis on artificial intelligence in the education sector, classifying it as a step towards the “digital revolution”. The announcement of the establishment of a National Digital Library for Children and Adolescents will undoubtedly benefit the ed-tech sector. It will establish a digital ecosystem in the school sector, promote digital education, and primarily aid pupils falling behind due to the epidemic.

The budget also emphasized the relevance of artificial intelligence in the education sector by announcing the construction of three artificial intelligence centers of excellence to enable ‘Make AI for India’ and ‘Make AI work for India’. Proposal to promote industry partnership in this will help EdTech to play a key role by offering training on AI and allied subjects to  produce future-ready talents in AI.

The launching of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana 4.0 is aimed at making lakhs of skilled youth in the next three years for Industry 4.0. Impact of Union Budget 2023 on Higher Education and EdTech

Education experts and policymakers have widely praised the Union Budget 2023 for its focus on supporting higher education and EdTech. This budget aims to promote a more equitable and inclusive education system across India.

According to Ambrish Sinha, CEO of UNext Learning Private Limited, the Union Budget 2023-24 is indeed a holistic and well-balanced one with a special emphasis on Industry 4.0.

“The government has rightly laid emphasis on new age technologies and skill-building programs. ‘Make AI for India’ and ‘Make AI work for India’ will give a definite boost for niche technologies and its adoption. The announcement of three centers of excellence for artificial intelligence and active industry collaborations strongly indicate that the Government of India wants AI to be a crucial component of the Indian economy,” said Mr Sinha.

The future of education is digitization, and NEP is paving the road for e-education in India. Distributing more funds will promote online and digital education to increase accessibility. Moreover, equal learning opportunities for learners in urban and rural areas will only boost the economy.

The increased funding has been earmarked for a range of initiatives, including establishing new research and teaching institutions, establishing new digital infrastructures, and providing scholarships for economically disadvantaged students. These initiatives are expected to significantly expand access to higher education in India, allowing more people to benefit from the increased opportunities available.

This year, there is a strong emphasis on developing and deploying stronger digital infrastructures to guarantee that all students are given access to a positive impact on online learning experiences. This involves investing in high-speed internet access, especially in rural and remote locations, and assisting schools and educational institutions in upgrading their technology systems.

“The overall budget aims to make India a knowledge and technology-based economy in the next 25 years and we are hopeful that these measures will positively impact the growth of the EdTech sector as well,” opined Ambrish Sinha.

EKAM 2023: How our online learners engaged in a collaborative catchup

Manipal University Jaipur in collaboration with Online Manipal organized Ekam, an event and an opportunity where online learners of the university gather and interact with peers and faculty. Over 400 online learners from across the country enjoyed the fun, interactive sessions at the Ekam event. The special occasion took place for the second time in Jaipur; the first one was organized in Bengaluru.

The specialty of Ekam this time was that the online students were gathered at the Manipal University Jaipur campus for the first time. This is the first event for online students that took place on the university campus. While students have virtually experienced the campus before, they were able to enjoy state-of the-art on-campus facilities for an entire day through the event. The Ekam event allowed learners to share their experiences with Manipal University Jaipur and Online Manipal with their respective peers and faculty members. While learners have only interacted with their faculty virtually, it gave them the chance to meet in person and bond with them. Watch this video to find out our learners’ experiences at Ekam.

While Online Manipal has been offering a hassle-free virtual learning experience, we wanted our online learners to meet in person for an enriched experience. Our learners are constantly in touch with their peers and faculty virtually, and Ekam has given them the opportunity to meet in person. Why is it important for online learners to meet face to face?

Get out of the virtual bubble

Even though online learning immersive and interactive, it is nice to get out of the bubble occasionally. The games and fun activities organized in the Ekam event allowed students to not only interact with each other, but also take time off academic and spend leisure time.

Share similar experiences

Meeting peers personally not only helps create a stronger bond, but also helps learners share similar experiences. Shared experiences help learners gain a broader perspective of things. When virtual learners meet personally, they can learn from each other’s experiences.

Get diverse perspectives

Meeting your peers who belong from varied backgrounds and diverse cultures builds cultural intelligence. It helps you understand cultural sensitivities, which will be of great help in workplace. Interacting with people from diverse backgrounds at the college level prepares you to face challenging situations in the workplace.

Share feedback and thoughts

When peers meet with each other and their faculty, it helps them address pressing issues. While it allows students to give honest feedback, faculty will get a chance to improve in certain areas to make the learning experience satisfying. This also helps in building strong student-teacher relationships.

Build a network

Building your network virtually is different from building it in-person. When you interact with people on a personal level, you will clearly know how helpful they are to your professional life. This helps you build connections with the right people in your field or the industry you will be working in.

Today, online education has given greater flexibility to juggle your career, education, and personal commitments. It’s a myth that online learning is boring as cutting-edge technology has replicated classroom experiences virtually. Yet, our learners got to interact with their online peers virtually and build networks and connections like never before.
