1. What are the career advisory and placement services Online Manipal is offering?
Online Manipal offers career advisory and counselling services as well as job search assistance as students progress in their respective online degree programmes. Each semester focuses on preparing students for the job market through industry readiness sessions and various skill development programmes. Sessions on resume writing, interview preparation, LinkedIn profile makeovers, and classes on interpersonal communication, business etiquette, etc. further help strengthen their professional persona and hone the skills they need to be successful at work.
2. Who is eligible for the career advisory and placement assistance services?
To be eligible for career advisory and placement services, students must not have any backlog in the previous semesters. They must be in the final semester of their respective programs and should not have taken a gap between semesters.
3. Will attending these programmes add to my attendance requirement for the programme?
As per the University Grants Commission (UGC) regulations, a student needs to complete 75% of the learning requirement to be eligible to appear for exams of an online degree programme that includes reading through the e-content, completing assignments and assessments, and attending classes on the student portal. Career advisory and skill development programmes are additional benefits provided to students enrolled in online degree programmes being offered on www.onlinemanipal.com and do not contribute towards the attendance requirement.
4. Do you offer internship opportunities and campus placements?
Our placement cell works with organisations and leading career opportunity providers to ensure that students get access to internships as well as open job positions at organisations across various sectors. Students can select and apply to the roles that best suit and interest them. The final selection of the candidate(s) will depend on the hiring organisation in line with their recruitment policies, requirement, and candidature fit.
5. Do you organise job fairs? If yes, when?
Regular placement drives will be organized on a quarterly basis, wherein students can expect many companies to participate. All eligible final-year students of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes can participate in these drives. The placement drives would be conducted virtually as well as in person in a few major cities (subject to social distancing norms prescribed by the relevant government bodies). Top companies across diverse industries will be invited to hire.
6. Do students have to pay for the virtual job fairs?
No, students enrolled in online degree programmes being offered on www.onlinemanipal.com do not have to pay to participate in the virtual job fairs or to apply to listed jobs. Our career advisory and placement assistance services are offered free of cost.
7. Do you offer resume writing and interviewing tips?
Yes, we organise sessions with professional development and HR experts who help students create impactful resumes and online profiles, and also give tips on presentation and interview skills. We ensure that students receive the support they need to become more viable in the job market.
8. How do I know which job I should pursue?
Online Manipal has a strong career counselling cell that students can approach at any time to get guidance on their careers. Mentors and academic counsellors are also available to help students chart their path. We advise students to take advantage of these services from the start of their programme so they have clarity as they progress each semester. Our scientifically designed psychometric and recruitment assessments will also help students understand their strengths and weaknesses and guide them in making informed professional decisions.
9. Can you help with soft skills development?
Absolutely! Apart from the industry-relevant curricula that is designed for students to develop domain-specific skills, we offer skill development programmes too. These programmes focus on the softer aspects like interpersonal communication, business etiquette, confidence building, cultural fluency, etc. that will help students become well-rounded personalities as they embark on their professional journeys.
10. Do you guarantee a job after completion of the online degree programme?
Securing a job depends on various factors and the recruiting organisation has the final say. We do not guarantee a job for each student but we help them build and strengthen the skills and knowledge needed that will help them position themselves as valuable candidates for an organisation. The final selection of the candidate(s) will depend on how the candidate performs in their programme and interview, and in line with the hiring organisation’s recruitment policies, requirement, and candidature fit.
11. Who’s eligible for attend career fairs and placements?
Students who have successfully completed their programme without a break in semesters during their programme are eligible for placement assistance.
10. What support does the Placement Cell provide for learners with various levels of experience?
The Placements Cell receives requirements for beginners, intermediate, managerial, and leadership roles and helps learners by sharing relevant profiles with recruiters. Learners are advised to keep their LinkedIn profiles updated and remain active on LinkedIn and other job portals.
11. Can learners switch domains upon completion of program?
Yes, it is possible. Such job seekers must work on projects that show relevance and interest in their preferred domains. Faculty members and the Placements Cell will extend their career advisory support to such learners. Learners may apply to positions across domains and industries.
12. How long will I get placement support from Online Manipal?
Placement support begins from the start of the final semester. It continues even upon completion of program, for the next six months. In total, placement support is available for 1 year.
13. Do you have tie-ups with HR consultancies?
We are well-connected in the job market. We maintain a two-way relationship with several consulting firms, and they share their requirements with us on a regular basis.
14. Do you assure placements?
No, we do not give placement assurance. However, all eligible students will receive placement assistance.
15. Do you assure a minimum number of interview chances?
We share interested students’ profiles to prospective recruiters, and it is up to the companies to shortlist and invite candidates for the subsequent interview processes. There is no cap on how many interviews one can attend. Learners may attend as many interviews as possible, until they get placed.
16. How many job offers can a student accept? Can students appear for multiple interviews within a month?
We maintain a ‘one student – one job offer’ policy. Students can appear for multipe interviews until they recieve an offer. However, in exceptional cases, the Placement Cell will review and take a call on whether a learner can re-participate in the placement process even after he/ she has accepted an offer.
17. Will I be intimated about the placement schedule and the process involved?
Yes. Information related to placement process and schedule will be conveyed to learners through a webinar at the beginning of the final semester. Subsequently, the recording of the webinar will be made available on the LMS.
18. Does the Placement Cell provide jobs opportunities outside India?
The Placement Cell mainly invites recruiters with job opportunities within India. However, students will be notified in case we receive opportunities from outside India as well.
19. Does the Placement Cell provide a list of frequently asked interview questions?
The Placement Cell shall distribute a list of frequently asked interview questions and guidelines on how to answer them. This will be made available before the placement season begins and learners participating in placements may utilize it for their practice.

21. Is there any lock-in period / minimum period for which a student has to work with a company after getting placed?
