What does it take to redefine how we absorb knowledge? For Christy Thomas, it began with inquisitiveness, understanding, and an aspiration to make learning feel real and relatable.
This is Christy Thomas’s chance to bask in the glory of being our student in spotlight, an MBA student at Manipal University Jaipur (MUJ) whose journey blends education, entrepreneurship, and empathy with perfect balance. From growing up in the small industrial town of Vapi, Gujarat, to launching a promising social learning platform — elaonline.in, Christy has redefined what it means to pursue purpose alongside education.
From Curious Learner to Purpose-Driven Educator
Born in Kerala and raised in Gujarat, Christy’s formative years were rooted in core values and intellectual stimulation. Though never a regular topper, his fervent devotion to the learning process always left a mark.

Upon completion of his B.Tech in Electronics and Media Technology from Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences, Coimbatore, Christy was drawn to the education sector, not just as a profession, but as a mission. He taught Computer Science to school students, tried out graphic design and digital marketing, and later found his purpose-driven role in STEM education.
The Spark Behind ELA: Where Education Meets Social Connection
While many final-year projects dim once college ends, Christy’s remained relevant over time. His concept of using AR in education ignited analytical thinking on what learners truly need. The end note? A team-powered, social haven for learning — and thus began the quest of crafting elaonline.in.
Ela (short for Enjoy Learning Anything) was built upon this understanding. It’s not just a digital platform, but a shift towards social, community-driven education. Whether you’re a teacher introducing a new learning module or a student tapping into the power of peers, Ela brings to life an environment where wisdom thrives in community.
Walking the Tightrope: Student, Startup Founder, and Full-Time STEM Trainer
Juggling an MBA, a startup, and a full-time job might seem overwhelming, but Christy sees it as a linking up of his mission.
“All three align with my goal of transforming education. Each role adds a unique lens and enriches my journey with ela.” he adds.

His academic learning has been instrumental, too. From drafting ELA’s mission and vision statements to setting up a working organizational structure, Christy’s coursework has directly shaped his venture. The Management Process and Organizational Behavior module, in particular, played a pivotal role.
Why MUJ?
The decision to pursue an MBA from Manipal University Jaipur was rooted in relevance and accessibility. With a strong reputation and an alumni network that spans industries, MUJ stood out. But it was the Coursera integration that sealed the deal for Christy.
“The free Coursera access has been a goldmine. I’ve actively upgraded my skills and brought that learning straight into my platform development.”
Leading with Vision, Learning with Purpose
Today, elaonline.in is more than a website. It’s a working prototype shaped by Christy’s vision and dedication. While he’s still building a core team, the drive to create an impact keeps him going — and he’s open to collaborators who share his mission.
