From ₹1,000 and No Plan to a Digital Growth Agency at 21: Inside Mansi Hirani’s Journey

At 21, Mansi Hirani had an offer letter from Wipro, a seat at BITS Pilani, and a clear path forward. Yet, she walked away from all of it. “There was a five-year bond, your salary starts at 14,000 to 17,000 rupees and only after five years it would reach 50,000. I did not want to spend five of my best years like that.” So, she left. And with that, she also lost her sponsored master’s. “I am technically a BITS Pilani dropout,” she says, without apology.

What came next was Awarefluence, a premium digital marketing and growth agency for hospitality and lifestyle brands, built just from ₹1,000 and no prior experience.

Getting Here Was a Process of Elimination

Mansi is from Rajkot, Gujarat, and grew up as a self-described techie. “I have always been someone who figures out problems, who loves technology, and who wants to understand how things work at their core.”

In her final year of BSc IT, she started exploring UI/UX design because she knew a bare-minimum coding job was not what she wanted. Then she realised designing was not quite right either. So, she shifted focus to preparing for MSc IT entrance exams.

Then a LinkedIn post from Wipro changed things. They were sponsoring a master’s from BITS Pilani for fresh graduates who joined them. She gave the exam, got her acceptance email the very next day, appeared for the interview, and had her offer letter within four to five days.

“I was on cloud nine!”

But after a year and a half at Wipro, her growth had completely stalled. When the company started calling employees to Bengaluru for 17,000 rupees a month, she made her decision. “When did marketing click? It was not one single moment. It was more of a process of elimination and then one day things just clicked. Also, I was always into photography and cinematography, so I always loved posting on social media.”

The Beginning Had No Roadmap

“After leaving Wipro I had zero backup plan.”

She started her first agency, CharmX Social, alone. No mentor, no network, no financial support. She learned everything by doing it, including failing publicly. Inspired by a creator she had seen online take on an earnings challenge, she launched one of her own on Instagram for a marketing agency. She was probably the second person to attempt it for an agency.

“The challenge went well in terms of visibility and awareness, but I did not hit the financial goal.” Three months after starting CharmX, she found her co-founder Bansari through a WhatsApp networking group. Awarefluence was born. “It was just me, ChatGPT, my own ideas, and the people who believed in me. The confidence did not come from certainty. It came from having nothing left to lose and everything to prove.”

Why Manipal, And Why a Master’s in Tech

When she started researching universities, Manipal stood out for one specific reason.

“What really excited me was that MUJ Online gave full access to Coursera. Whatever upskilling I wanted to do, whatever new skills I wanted to build, whatever courses I wanted to take alongside my degree, it was all available. For someone who was simultaneously running an agency and trying to grow, that was a massive advantage.”

She was also honest about her original logic. “I was not fully certain that my agency would work out. I wanted a safe option in the background. I would at least have a master’s degree in tech from a prestigious university that I could leverage to get a job somewhere.”

The virtual events and webinars MUJ organised added another layer. “Every webinar I attended, every virtual event I showed up for, every person I heard speak through MUJ’s programs added something to how I think and how I make decisions.” It soon became much more than a backup plan.

The Subjects that Changed How She Thinks

Ask her which courses stuck with her and the answer is not what you would expect from a marketer.

“Two subjects that really went way beyond the exam were Analysis and Design of Algorithms and Advanced Software Engineering. On the surface these have nothing to do with marketing, but they completely changed how I think about it.”

“So much of what we do at Awarefluence depends on how platform algorithms work across Instagram, LinkedIn and Google. Our content strategy for clients has to be in sync with how these platforms actually function at their core, combined with the psychology of the people using them. These subjects gave me that foundational understanding.”

On the Hard Days

“There were days in the beginning where I genuinely cried and told my mom I could not do it.”

Her mother’s response was not what most people would call comforting. “She scolded me so hard. She said, ‘Why are you so weak? If you are just going to cry, then start doing household chores because I did not raise you for this.’ That hit me every time. She did not console me, she pushed me, and that was exactly what I needed.”

There was also the pressure of paying her own fees. “I had to make sure I was earning enough to pay my own fees every semester because I did not want to take money from my father for that. Managing it was not a system or a strategy. It was just stubbornness and the refusal to let any one thing fall apart.”

And then there was the work of learning to show up. “I was an introvert. I had no network, I did not know how to pitch, I did not know how to walk into a room or a call and make someone believe in what I was building. That was not natural for me at all. It was built, slowly and deliberately, through doing it badly many times before doing it well.”

Where She is Going

Awarefluence today offers full-stack growth services including content, paid ads across Meta, Google and TikTok, social media management, SEO, LinkedIn personal branding, WhatsApp automation, AI integration, and end-to-end strategy.

“We are revenue obsessed. Every single thing we build for a client has to translate into actual business results.”

The vision for the next five years is a global firm with offices across multiple cities and more than 200 team members. Tech services including AI automation, custom software development and websites are already being built out. Beyond Awarefluence, she wants to build six more businesses across real estate, skincare, energy, and import-export.

“The dream is not one company. It is a full life and a full empire built entirely on my own terms.”

Her Advice to Anyone Sitting on the Fence

“Do not let anyone make you feel like pursuing education and building something of your own are two things that cannot exist together. They absolutely can.”

And on the bigger picture:

“Your big dreams are not delusions. When you are someone who thinks big, people around you will constantly try to bring you back down to size. They will say it is not possible, you are a girl, you will get married, you should not be so ambitious. None of that is true. You can do all of it. Just go.

MUJ Online does not ask you to pause your journey for a degree. It fuels the one you are already on. Mansi (LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/mansimhirani/) is currently graduated from MCA at Manipal University Jaipur. If her story resonates with you, maybe it is time to start yours.
