Panorama 2024: A successful meetup of MAHE’s online learners 

In what can be called a milestone, Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) organized the first ever event for its online learners in the sprawling campus in Manipal, Karnataka- ‘Panorama’. This was the first time online learners stepped out of their virtual bubbles to meet their friends, classmates, and their favorite faculty members in person. Learners dressed in their best attires entered the MAHE campus on the morning of June 22, 2024, when the weather in Manipal was at its best- mild drizzles and soothing breezes.  

Panorama was meant for all online learners of MAHE, those pursuing online degrees as well as certifications. Over 230 learners travelled from different parts of the country to visit their university campus. The day-long event kickstarted at 9 AM and went on till sun set.  

It wouldn’t be wrong to say that Panorama by MAHE is a one-of-a-kind event, that brought together working professionals from diverse backgrounds and geographic locations. It was seen as a platform for professionals to connect, interact, and strike personal conversations & professional conversations that contribute to their overall growth.  

The event began with a welcome speech by Dr Manojkumar Nagasampige, Director- Directorate of Online Education, Manipal Academy of Higher Education welcomed the online students. Speaking at the event, he said, “I extend my heartfelt gratitude to all the students who have traveled to the MAHE campus to attend this event. This is our first in-person gathering for online students, and I am confident that you will leave the campus with lasting friendships and invaluable connections.” 

Dr Narayana Sabhahit, Pro Vice Chancellor- Technology & Science, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, who was also the Chief Guest addressed the students by saying, “I’m excited to see students who have traveled from different parts of the country to be here. Panorama represents a major milestone in the academic journey of online learners, giving a chance not only to meet your peers in person, but also foster valuable connections and professional networks. I believe this event will provide an opportunity for learners to gain new insights and perspectives, enriching their overall academic experience.” 

Speaking to the attendees, Dr P Giridhar Kini, Registrar, Manipal Academy of Higher Education said, “Online degrees offer immense opportunities for working professionals, providing flexibility and quality education. Online degrees allow working professionals from varied backgrounds to enhance their careers multifold. You have made a great decision by choosing MAHE for your online degrees and certifications as you can leverage our academic excellence to add value to your professional journey. Your presence at today’s event reflects your dedication and commitment. We are thrilled to support you in this journey and look forward to celebrating your achievements.” 

Once learners settled down, the university celebrated the toppers of the 1^st and 2^nd batch of online learners. Their dedication, hard work and excellent academic performance not only added a feather to their hat but also encouraged other learners to give their best in their online learning journeys. This was followed by a group photo and a networking session over hi-tea.  

As part of the day’s most important events, an interactive and engaging panel discussion was organized on the topic “Smart Businesses: Revolutionizing Modern Businesses with AI.” The panelists comprised of distinguished MAHE faculty and other industry experts.  

The most awaited moment came after the panel discussion, when learners met their faculty for the first time. The faculty-peer interaction comprised of meaningful conversations, allowing learners to gain greater insights into their academic and professional journeys. The day ended with enthralling performances by the faculty members of MAHE and online learners who also took to the stage to showcase their talent in music and dance. Students were then taken around for a guided tour of the magnificent MAHE campus.

Conclusion 

Panorama 2024 only marked the beginning of more such meetups for online learners. With Panorama, Online Manipal aims to bring together learners from different parts of the country, create a space for building valuable connections and improve their online learning experience as a whole.
