AIMA (All India Management Association) administers the national-level MAT exam used as the preliminary exam for entry into management and other related disciplines. According to the MAT 2022 exam pattern, there are 200 questions on the paper, and 150 minutes (2.5 hours) are allotted for testing. Understanding the MAT exam structure is the first step in preparation. The MAT exam is available in the CBT, PBT, and IBT test formats. MAT exam 2022 syllabus

Candidates must carefully review the MAT curriculum before beginning their exam preparation to know the key points for each area. The MAT syllabus covers these five topics:

There are the same number of multiple-choice questions in each segment of the MAT exam (MCQ). The Indian and Global Environment component carries a weightage of 40 marks despite not factoring into the MAT percentile computation.   • AIMA has proposed an individual time limit for each component.
  • Candidates may switch between sections during the allotted time.
  • The MAT exam’s 4 portions will decide the percentile and merit standing.
  • The fifth section’s score, “Indian and Global Environment,” will be individually displayed on the MAT scorecard, but it won’t be used to determine the percentile.

The MAT September 2022 exam pattern has additional sections. With this sectional subdivision, the MAT exam in 2022 will have 8 functional portions. The main facts are as follows:

Section-1: Language Comprehension

The Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension sections comprise Section 1 of the MAT exam 2022, which focuses on Language Comprehension.

Section 2: Intelligence & Critical Reasoning

The questions in Section 2 on Intelligence & Critical Reasoning are divided into two sections and include analytical and logical reasoning.

Section 3: Data Analysis & Data Sufficiency

The third segment of the MAT exam comprises questions on data analysis and data sufficiency, which come in two types. The first type of question is on Data Analysis, which is more akin to Data Interpretation, whereas other types are on Data sufficiency.

Section-4: Mathematical Skills

Mathematical skills are covered in Section 4 of the MAT exam. It is the quantitative ability portion. 

Section-5: Indian & Global Environment

The GK portion of the MAT exam, called Indian & Global Environment, covers a variety of important subjects, and this portion also comprises 40 questions.

Total and sectional cut-off marks for MAT 2022

The MAT Cutoff 2022 will be announced by each member institution following AIMA’s release of the MAT 2022 Results. The percentile cut-offs for MAT 2022 at the participating colleges range from 95 to 65. According to patterns from previous years, the scaled cut-off for the MAT at prestigious B-schools like IPE Hyderabad, XIME Bangalore, and PUMBA Pune is between 600 and 700, or 95 percentile. A few major management colleges also accept the 70th to 80th percentile. Candidates who reach the MAT Cut Off 2022 are eligible for the MAT 2022 Counseling Process.
